Eidur Gudjohnsen had an interrupted start to his career as a teenager after breaking his ankle, leaving him in extreme pain and no solution for a cure. He was Ronaldo's strike partner at PSV, but they despaired that he would not play again and he was released, only to be snapped up by Bolton. He had finally found a doctor who recognised the problem and put him through training sessions that resolved the issue.

Big and skilful, he is a crowd favourite.

His first season at Chelsea was tough, due to the current inform strikers. However he still managed to kick 13 goals, mainly from the bench.

The 2002/2003 season saw him as a starting player who scored 23 goals. Known for his fine link-up play and his eye for the through ball, he is considered to be one of the best strikers in Europe.
