Just thought I'd start with this video of 'Unintended' from their first album just to give you something to listen to, as you read their history. However if you click on Lyrics, you are taken back to the Youtube page and you won't see my page. Leave that for another time.

The three band members all moved with their families to Teignmouth, Devon when they were ten years old. When they met at 13 years of age, they discovered they all liked grunged-based music. They formed a band named Gothic Plague and covered early '90's indie classics. Disastrous gigs and disinterested audiences only made them all the more determined to prove they were a good band.

The first taste of success came in 1996 at a "Battle of the Bands" contest in Teignmouth. With all the other bands sounding so much alike, Rocket Baby Dolls, (as they were then named) appeared, dressed in black and wearing makeup. They then commenced to astound and stimulate the audience with their sheer energy and intensity, ending the vigorous performance by smashing their instruments.

They won.

By this time they were writing their own songs. Ignoring Britpop, they listened to American bands; Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Sonic Youth and Primus. Radiohead was the one UK exception, with their album "The Bends", along with "Nevermind" by Nirvana had the greatest influence on their appreciation and comprehension of music and what they wanted to play. Renamed Muse, they had now discovered within themselves what music really meant to them and it had now become a passion.
